Video Poker 247
- Bill Killed
The South Carolina House of Representatives has just made a lot of
kids very unhappy. So afraid of opening a loophole that might allow
video poker to come back into the state, they outlawed kids’ games
instead.
There was a bill that would allow children’s games that offer prizes,
such as those that are found in a Chuck E. Cheese establishment. Kids
could play skeet-ball or arcade games and get tickets for winning.
They then take those tickets and they pick out prizes for them.
However, the state said that by allowing those types of games people
could simply bring in video poker games and pay them out in tickets
instead of cash, which would make them legal as well. The bill would
have kept video poker illegal and made the children’s games legal –
but they refused to allow it.
Rep. Jim Harrison was one of those that vetoed the bill. He said that
it was drafted in a way that would have made video poker legal.
However, that being said, they are aware that there are currently
games that children are playing that they are not going to crack down
on.
Those types of games might be technically illegal, but they are not
concerned about them. However, illegal video poker games will be
confiscated if discovered and charges will be filed for disobeying the
law.
