Video Poker 247
- Keep It All Illegal
In South Carolina, legislators say that there will be no comment or
changes to the current gaming law in the state. They say that it is
too hard to regulate the differences that can come from specifying
which games are illegal and which ones aren’t. So for now, they are
all illegal.
They agree that arcade games such as Go Fish are illegal, but they
cannot risk the loopholes that might come out of making arcade games
legal. They say that if they specify that arcade games are legal, the
next day there are people pushing to make video poker legal under the
same law.
However, they aren’t exactly knocking down doors to find illegal video
poker machines, etc. House Speaker Bobby Harrell says that it is
“difficult to figure out how to draw the line.” They say that by
setting a boundary, what do you make legal and what ends up being an
illegal video poker parlor?
They find it best to make it illegal across the board, as it is just
too difficult to do anything else. They say that they will not be
examining the gambling bill this session, and many think that has more
to do with the fact that it is an election year than it has to do with
worrying about setting limits.
