Video Poker 247
- With Liquor Comes Video Poker
Allegheny County is considering allowing video poker in bars. With
slot machines pushing to take over all of the gambling in the state, a
major crackdown has started on video poker games in bars. However,
some think that making video poker at these establishments legal
instead might make a lot of sense.
Councilman Nick Futules thinks that if you are licensed to have liquor
then you should be able to get video poker games as well. They say
that the drink tax is taking too much out of their pockets, but a
video poker game bringing in much needed income is a great idea.
The push would be to legalize “small games of chance” and give bar
owners a way to make a little more cash. They say that with non profit
groups already getting to use the video poker games for their benefit,
it is only time to allow the other businesses the same chance.
However, the city council does not have the power to allow the
expansion of gambling. They could pass a resolution, but it would have
to go before the state’s lawmakers to be passed into law. They say
that they don’t think that the charities would be worried about it,
they know that there is enough to go around.
