Video Poker 247
- Partee Must Make Restitution
Margaret Partee, 63, of Carnegie, has been ordered to pay restitution
for the money that she stole to support her video poker addiction.
Partee is the former Carnegie police secretary, and she stands accused
of taking almost $70,000 from the borough over the time that she
worked there.
She has been admitted to the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitative
Disposition program and must pay the borough $30,000. The ARD program
is for those who have committed a crime but are only first time
offenders. Once she completes her probation and has satisfied the
terms set forth by the judge, her records will be expunged.
Carnegie Borough Council President Bob Kollar said that he agreed to
the deal because he felt that if they went to trial the taxpayers
wouldn’t get any of their money back at all. This way he feels that
they will at least get back a portion of it.
He said that they have also changed the accounting rules so that this
sort of thing cannot happen again. Partee took thousands of dollars
from the borough to support her video poker addiction. The irony of
the situation is that Partee stole money to play video poker from the
borough’s mechanical device fees which pay for video poker machines.
