- Table Games Delay
The West
Virginia Lottery Commission has announced that the opening of the
table games in their state is going to have to be postponed, due to a
lack of employees. Over the past couple of months, West Virginia has
been in the limelight as they have had table games approved at a
couple of their tracks.
Mountaineer
Racetrack and Gaming Resort, as well as Wheeling Island Racetrack and
Gaming Center,
were planning on starting to offer table games with their slot
machines. Once they got the approval from the state and its voters,
they started making plans to bring in the table games. Both said that
they thought they could be ready for early fall.
However, now
the lottery director of the state says that they are looking at
November at the earliest before table games can be offered.
Mountaineer was aiming for Labor Day Weekend, and Wheeling was trying
for October 1st. Now it looks as if both of them will have
to wait.
The lottery
commission is trying to get enough employees for the casinos, but it
takes four to six months to train them in the ways of table games.
