Video Poker 247 - Video Poker Tips

For those of you looking for some tips for playing video poker we have a few that you might find interesting. Tips on how to play video poker itself have been answered in many places, including this site – but sometimes there are other things that a video poker player should know before they hit the casinos.

For starters, when you are hitting the deal button some think there is a trick to it. People think that if they delay hitting the button after they have just had a losing video poker hand, that they will get a better hand. Not so, as the video poker machine shuffles the cards from the second the last hand is over until you put the money in the video poker machine. Once the first coin is in the machine, or the bet button is pressed, all shuffling is done. Delaying dropping the coins or pushing the button on the video poker machine has no effect on the hand anyway, because it is all random.

Another idea is keeping a journal for all of your video poker wins and losses all year long. Keep track of where you played, the video poker machine you played, what was bet, what was lost, etc. and you can use the losses to offset the wins at the end of the year on your taxes. This is something you can do for all of the betting you do, not just video poker.

Finally – it is never a good idea to try and pull one over on the casino. Some people think that if they pull their slot card out of the video poker machine right before you hit the draw button that you will be able to reduce your recorded winnings. It is called “card pulling” and if a casino catches you doing it you will be out on your bottom. Some do it to get more comps for losing more money, but not every casino runs their cards that way. Not only that, the casino is in the habit and profession of watching for all kinds of trickery, so if you manage to get away with it once, don’t try it again because you will end up losing your card, your comps, and your ability to play video poker at that casino.
