Video Poker 247 - Absolute Poker Still an Absolute Mess

It has been months since rumors started floating about that there was a poker scandal brewing over at Absolute Poker. Supposedly there was an instance of cheating during a tournament at the online poker site, and initially Absolute Poker denied any wrongdoing, and said that it was impossible for anyone to cheat.

However, as time wore on it seems that this was not entirely true. That in fact, yes, someone had been cheating during the poker tournament, only it was a former employee of Absolute Poker that had access to codes, and used them to see the other players’ hands so that he could indeed cheat.

An audit took place of the site by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission, and cheating was confirmed, but the final results have not yet been published, and so far it does not seem that anyone has been prosecuted for the cheating. It seems that Absolute Poker is hoping that the whole mess will go away, but according to their players – they are handling it poorly.

Then Mark Seif, the only professional player sponsored by the site said that he is waiting to see how the company handles the mess. He said that another player, Todd Witteles, was exaggerating what had actually happened. Witteles was one of the players victimized by the cheating, and was also one of the ones who brought the problem to light.

Witteles then said that he was simply saying that they wanted to see his hand history during a 2006 tournament where several players wanted to know why Seif had played the way he had. After the latest incident, the questioning started again about the cheating. Seif tried to prove that he was innocent, but the site said that they did not have a history of his hands past six months ago.
