Video Poker 247
- Texas’ Illegal Video Poker Trade
Video poker halls are becoming the bane of Texas lawmaker’s existence.
Video poker is illegal in Texas, but that hasn’t stopped those that
wish to break the law from bringing in illegal video poker games and
setting up their “casinos” in places that the police would not
necessarily think about going.
In fact, more and more video poker locations are showing up in the
last place that Texans would think to look and the one place that
everyone goes: the shopping mall. It is true that Texans love to shop,
but now it would seem that they enjoy a little video poker with their
shopping.
By setting up video poker locations in shopping malls, they are able
to use another business as their front, and then only those in the
know would be able to participate in what they are really doing there.
There is one location that was posing as a gift shop, but it is
anything but.
The consumer comes in and hands a special card to the person behind
the counter; they are shown to the back room which holds the video
poker machines. This way unless you know that they are back there, or
have been given a card to participate in the gambling, you don’t know
that they are there – which means neither do the police.
The video poker machines are left there for only so long, and then
they are moved to another location. This keeps the police wondering
where the video poker machines are, as they go to locations that
reportedly have them, only to discover that they don’t.
