- Illegal Video Poker Machines Seized
Five people will undoubtedly be charged this week with the illegal
operation and ownership of video poker machines in Dunn. Harnett
County Sheriff Larry Rollins said that they seized 13 illegal video
poker machines in a raid on three different locations on Tuesday. It
is not currently known who exactly owns the video poker machines, but
they do know who was operating them.
They had been receiving complaints from neighbors about the video
poker machines, and when they went looking for them they found them in
three different homes around the area. In addition to the video poker
machines, they also took around $400 in cash from the machines.
It is considered a misdemeanor violation to possess a video poker
machine and once they know who owned them they will be charged. Last
year the General Assembly adopted a law that made the owning of video
poker machines illegal, but it just went into effect this past July.
If it is found that more than five machines were at any one location,
or if the owner of the video poker machines has been in trouble for
this particular violation before, they will be classified as a repeat
offender and felony charges could be filed.
