Video Poker 247
- Penn National No Longer Purchasing Rosecroft
Penn National Gaming was counting the days until Maryland chose to
legalize video poker. They knew that video poker was going to be
legalized, and thus they waited patiently for that day to happen.
However, they made plans to purchase a track in anticipation of the
new law.
They spoke with the people over at the Rosewood Raceway, which is
located in Fort Washington, Maryland. They had set it up so that they
would purchase the racetrack and then bring in video poker games.
However, things did not go quite as planned.
In fact, Maryland chose different locations for their video poker
machines and the track that Penn National was looking at was not one
of the locations. The bill allows for video poker, but specifically
excludes Prince George’s County, where you guess it, the track is
located.
Now that the location is not going to be able to offer video poker,
the sale is off as the company doesn’t want it if they can’t have the
games. The deal dissolved as soon as they heard that they could not
offer video poker at that specific track.
