Video Poker 247
- Blackmarr Speaks of Gambling Addiction
Author Amy Blackmarr recently spoke out about her addiction to
gambling, shedding light on a touchy subject for many women. With so
many women becoming addicted to video poker and the like, there should
be places for them to turn to in order to get help. However, many of
them don’t even realize that they have a gambling addiction until it
is too late.
We often think of gambling addicts as men, however, women are the
fastest growing part of the population in the addiction arena. With
strong women like Blackmarr speaking out about their addiction, one
can hope that other women will identify with her and find their own
way out.
Blackmarr has been fighting her own gambling addiction for many years,
and is still trying to get out of it. Her game of choice is video
poker; she just cannot walk away from it. She says that no matter
where she goes she has to make sure that she is close enough to get to
a video poker machine so that she can play.
She says that she spends a lot of time writing about and living
through inner peace, yet every time she finds it she is drawn back to
the video poker games and cannot stop herself. She is one of the six
to eight million women in this country that are currently addicted to
gambling.
Blackmarr says that she was in her 20’s before she went to a casino
and the glitz and glamour of it drew her in. She says that although
she is still battling the video poker addiction, she hopes that one
day this is a gamble she can actually win.
