Video Poker 247
- He’s Baaaack!
John Georges is back, and with a vengeance. When he was running for
governor last year, he was very clear that he was getting rid of all
of his video poker ties and that he would no longer be involved in
gambling. However, it seems that he has changed his mind, as it seems
that he now has regained ownership of several gambling enterprises
instead.
During the last race Georges had come under fire for having gambling
interests and ties to video poker. They kept saying that it was a
liability in his race for Louisiana’s governor and that he would only
stand to gain personally if he was voted in. He claimed that he had
given up his state gambling licenses and said that if he lost the race
he didn’t see himself getting back into the whole video poker world.
However, he did lose the race and is back in the video poker business
again. According to sources, he now holds a majority ownership in
seven firms that provide video gambling machines to various
establishments. It seems that he never completely severed ties to the
video poker companies that he was linked to according to the State
Police.
It seems that what was considered a liability in the governor’s race
and possibly lost him the bid is what is now a benefit to Georges.
Experts say that had he actually broken ties with the video poker
business he might have stood a better chance at winning, but it looks
like he is doing pretty well anyway.
