Video Poker 247
- Illegal Video Poker Casino Busted
Sixteen video poker machines were taken from four different shops this
week as investigators busted a major illegal video poker ring. Those
that were on hand for the bust say that this was easily one of the
largest video poker rings that they had come across.
During the day, one of the businesses was being run as a legal
alterations business. The woman who runs the business says that she
had no idea that it was an illegal video poker parlor at night. She
rents the house at 710 Salisbury Highway in Statesville, but had no
inkling of its evening festivities.
The police said that they had four shops that were all functioning
video poker parlors and that they were bringing in somewhere in the
vicinity of $2,000 a day from the machines. Three of the locations
were near each other and protected by video surveillance – so that the
owners knew when someone was approaching.
Those that did participate had to be friends of the family running the
video poker shop as otherwise you would not be invited to play. They
would run the video poker parlors from 6 pm until 2 am. Police say
that they are still counting the funds that came from the video poker
machines, and are not sure of the number of people who visited the
establishments.
