Video Poker 247
- Video Poker Defendants Decide to Cooperate
The video poker scandal that has rocked North Carolina has taken a
turn for the better. It seems that four of the men who have been
implicated in the illegal video poker operation have been assisting
the feds to bring down more people involved. They have allegedly been
responsible for identifying more than two dozen people, and are
looking at reduced prison sentences because of it.
The men are James Otis Henderson and his brother Barron Sloan
Henderson, Harold Steve Hartness and Jerry Pennington. These men were
all given prison terms ranging from one to six years. Because of their
cooperation however, these men will assuredly be looking at less time
as long as they keep cooperating.
The men have been responsible for bringing down former Buncombe County
Sheriff Bobby Medford – who has now also been included in the
indictments for the video poker scandal. The men that have been
apprehended thus far all have ties to Henderson Amusements, which
seems to be the front runner for the illegal video poker machines.
Henderson has been most helpful in bringing down many of those
involved in the video poker ring. He is on tape describing several of
the men involved, including the former sheriff. He told him of how the
sheriff’s would take bribes to protect them and their video poker
machines, and to let them know when they should be careful.
