Video Poker 247
- Video Poker Machine Scam
Christopher S. Horn, 37, and Charles A. Gibson, 50, have literally
been run out of town for operating an illegal video poker machine
scam. The two Kentucky men are accused of cheating at video poker at a
local tavern. They have each been charged with one felony and one
misdemeanor count, but that is only half of the story.
It starts with Chief of Police Wayne Nehring and city detective Sgt.
David Johnson. Johnson is the Chippewa Falls Police Department’s white
collar crime specialist. The two men set up an undercover operation at
the bar at the Avalon Hotel and Conference Center on January 11th.
Johnson played the bar manager and Nehring a customer.
The manager of the bar had complained that he thought something was
going on with the video poker game as the winnings that the men were
requesting were higher than the amount of money that had been put into
the video poker machine. He was curious if these two men were the same
two men that he had been warned about were going around the state
scamming video poker machines.
The men were using a “pull bill” to cheat the video poker machines and
charges were filed against them. They were arrested, booked and then
released. The men fled, which is just fine with the county. They have
informed the entire state of the video poker scam with their photos
posted throughout the Tavern League. If the men choose to stay out of
Wisconsin, the police have no problem with that. However, if they
choose to come back, they will be arrested.
