Video Poker 247 - Taxing Video Poker Might Be the Way to Go

Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato has decided that a good way to possibly bring in some money would be to legalize and tax video poker machines. He says that bringing in the video poker machines in a limited basis could be very good for finding a way to bring in some additional income.

The 10% tax on poured alcoholic drinks has made some people very angry and although Onorato says that he is “not running away” from the tax, he is now speaking out about a video poker tax instead. Onorato says that he has been trying to find ways to bring in money for the state but the rest of the ways that he has been considering make too many people unhappy.

That is when he came up with the idea of the video poker tax instead. He says that he knows that he will get some opposition to the idea, especially since they just got slot machines, but he thinks that this could been a boon for the state. He says that he is discussing it with “bar owners, restaurateurs, and legislators from [his] county to see if there is a (video poker) bill that has a shot.”

The problem many see with the video poker idea is that it seems to be too much gambling too soon for the state. They say that many do not want to see any further expansion of gambling, and they could end up losing money from the casino operators if the state gets in the video poker business. They say that if they eventually add table games to the state’s offerings, they may actually get video poker on the list as well.
