Video Poker 247
- No More Video Poker for Australian Hotel
In Queensland, Australia, a hotel owner has decided that he will no
longer allow video poker machines in his hotel. Scarborough Hotel
owner Roger Okalyi says that the damage that the video poker machines
are doing to his patrons is not worth having them on the premises.
Okalyi says that he would watch as his patrons would play the video
poker machines and lose all of their money. Time and time again they
would get up from the machines in tears, and he says that he cannot be
a party to that any longer. He says that he will be putting in a
family friendly arcade now instead of the video poker machines.
He says the video poker games prey on those who can’t afford it.
Watching people he knew had kids sitting there crying over having just
lost their weekly wage was simply too much. Gambling addiction
counselors say that Okalyi has taken a huge step for those that cannot
stop themselves from gambling. They say that removing the video poker
machines was more than a lot of people would have done, and that he
has done a great service for those that are addicted.
They say that the amount of video poker and gambling that has been
spreading across Australia for the past few years is just disturbing.
Experts contend that there are too many addicts for the country to
turn a blind eye any longer.
