Video Poker 247
- Video Poker is Illegal
Several Quebec casinos have been toying with the idea of allowing
video poker machines to come into their houses. They think that with
the popularity that has already been seen with the video poker games
that they will bring in more clients with their addition. However, the
government has something altogether different in mind.
The government says that video poker devices are illegal and that they
are breaking the law if they bring them in. They say that there is no
way that they will allow them to bring in video poker machines as the
law clearly states that poker tables are allowed, not video poker
machines.
However, some establishments such as Casino du Lac-Leamy are planning
on bringing in the video poker machines anyway. They say that they are
still the same thing as poker, only being played in a different venue.
The government is getting pressure to act on the video poker games
from the unions who say that by bringing in the automated video poker
machines they are putting dealers out of work and they won’t stand for
it.
They want the government to crack down on any casino that brings in a
video poker game as the law clearly states that poker is to be played
with a dealer, not from a machine. They say that they take the place
of jobs from casino employees and they want an injunction against any
casino that brings in the video poker machines so that they cannot
operate them.
