- Man Shot Over Video Poker
According to a recent report, a man was shot by police in regards to a
video poker operation. The man was taken to New Hanover Regional
Medical Center where he was released this past weekend.
The man’s name is William Inman, and was allegedly operating an
illegal video poker business when he was shot by police Thursday
night. The exact details of the incident are not known, and the
Wilmington police officer that shot Inman has been put on paid leave
while the shooting is being investigated.
However, it seems that police went to Inman’s illegal video poker shop
and attempted to serve him with a search warrant. It was at this time
that Inman allegedly pulled a gun on police, causing the officer on
leave to shoot him to protect himself.
Inman has been charged with possession of a firearm and is already a
convicted felon, so it is no wonder that police were quick to react.
He has also been charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a law
enforcement officer for pulling the gun on them; and operating a video
poker machine.
Inman has already appeared in front of the magistrate and is in the
New Hanover County Jail. His bond has been set at $200,000.
