Video Poker 247
- Organizations Continue to Fight for Video Poker
Social, fraternal and veterans’ organizations that give money to
charities do so because it increases and strengthens the community
around them. They raise the money in many ways, but video poker is one
of the biggest money makers for them. However, the Town’s Council
seems determined to make life harder on these organizations that help
out those in need.
At a local town councilor meeting, many of these groups were in
attendance, as were those who will be affected by the change in video
poker. They are aware that they will be losing out on money if the
organizations are, so they were there to lend their support. They told
the council that they need the money from the video poker games to
continue the programs that they run through funding from the
organizations.
The council had voted to deny the Wolves Club’s request for video
poker machines, with the request losing by one vote. The clubs say
that without the video poker funding they will have to cut back the
amount that they give out right now, as they won’t be able to continue
to give on such a large scale.
The organizations that receive the benefits of these video poker games
pled with the council to change their mind – they say that with things
going the way they have been it is going to be an even leaner winter
and they could truly use the funds to help them out. No word yet on
whether or not they will reconsider changing the veto on the video
poker machines.
