Video Poker 247
- New Australian Law Works to Help Gamblers
The state of Victoria in Australia is looking to pass a law that would
make many people very happy. They are looking to put a limit on the
amount of video poker that they are allowed to play, thus ensuring
that those with a problem would only be able to lose so much each day.
The new law would put a limit on the amount of money that you can play
on the video poker machines. It will literally take you about twice as
long to play as it did before. Instead of being able to lose your
money faster, you will have to wait. They are considering a $5 bet
maximum on all video poker machines.
Right now you can bet up to $10 on one video poker hand, which enables
you to lose much more money in a much faster period of time. As of
July 1st, however, all video poker machines that are being
manufactured will be changed to reflect this new payout.
For those video poker machines that are already up and running, owners
and operators will have until 2010 to change their machines for those
with a lower payout. The new video poker machines will also limit the
amount of time or money that they can spend overall on the games.
The government believes that this will help with the video poker
addiction that is currently in their country and by going even one
step further and banning ATM machines from the casinos as well they
think they stand a real chance at curbing this disease.
