- Illegal Video Poker in Flint
It would seem that there is a lot of illegal gambling going on in the
town of Flint, Michigan, and everyone is more than aware of it.
However, it also seems that no one is very quick to crackdown on it as
it continues even though it is pretty much out there for all the world
to see.
Genesee County is home to nightly poker games, and underground
lottery, betting on the NCAA, and other ways of gambling. In fact,
recently it seemed as if law enforcement had taken an interest in all
of the gambling that was going on illegally, but first impressions can
be deceiving.
According to Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton, “Gambling is
pretty low on the totem pole,” and this seems to sum up the attitude
of law enforcement in the county. Last November things seemed to be
quite a bit different however.
There was a police raid on nineteen Flint area bars and confiscated
illegal video poker and slot machine while they were at it. They also
arrested 30 people at a private poker game. However, it seems that
they were not in conjunction with each other, and that it was more
coincidence than anything. The police say that they would rather spend
their time chasing down real criminals instead of some people who
choose to play a little video poker every now and then.
