Video Poker 247
- Illegal Video Poker Aplenty in Maryland
For those of you concerned about bringing in slot machines to
Maryland, what exactly would be the difference – some residents are
asking. They say that you can go and play bingo and video poker
machines pretty much whenever you want, so why not bring in slot
machines as well?
According to the state, the electronic bingo and video poker games are
illegal. They aren’t illegal because the state is concerned with their
residents’ welfare, they are illegal because the state wants to bring
in slot machines and these existing bingo and video poker machines
would cut into their profits.
They are almost impossible to regulate, they turn up everywhere from
bars to convenience stores. If you play any of the many video poker
machines, the bartender or storeowner simply gives you credit or cash
for the win; and if you play bingo they look and sound just like slot
machines so they might as well be them.
Even if they chose to enforce the law, it would still be impossible
for them to know how much people were winning on the video poker
machines as there is no counter and people are paid out on the side.
Plus, the video poker and bingo machines bring in money to schools,
churches, hospitals, etc. that wouldn’t have that money otherwise.
This makes it difficult to get people to report on illegal video poker
activity as they know how good it is for them.
