Video Poker 247
- Southland on Track
Southland Park Gaming and Racing has announced that their gambling
revenue is up 30% in February. Their general manager Troy Keeping says
that the track has been steadily building a core clientele since they
opened their doors with the video poker and gambling games ready to
go.
The track has spent the last 18 months revamping their image to appeal
to those that like the dog track and to pull in those that might not
necessarily come for the dogs but would come for the video poker
machines. In a survey by the park, they found that 96% of those that
responded knew that they were there, but not necessarily knew of the
video poker that had been added.
Only 46% knew that the track had added gaming, which is a tough figure
considering the track had spent $40 million on their renovation. They
added video poker and slots, as well as game tables for blackjack and
poker – and integrated them in the existing dog track.
The company started a whole new advertising campaign to pull people in
and to introduce them to the idea of the new gaming that they offered.
They believe that they may have gotten off to a slow start, but
showing the marked improvement in their numbers it would seem that it
is finally catching on.
