Video Poker 247
- What Does Video Poker Have?
Many people want to know what video poker has that slot machine don’t,
as they have a tendency to think of them as simply another slots game.
However, even with all of their similarities, video poker games are
very different from slots games and therefore should not really be
thought of in the same vein.
Some say that it is a “thinking person’s slot machine” but this would
be characterizing the game as something it really wasn’t. It does have
spinning reels, and you put money in it as if it were a slots game,
but that is pretty much where the similarities end.
Most video poker games are manufactured by the same companies that
make slot machines, and most of them are made by International Game
Technology – who is well known for their slot machines as well as
their video poker games. They also both offer jackpots of varying
degrees, but only video poker players have some input over the
jackpot.
With slot machines you simply put in your money and hope for the best.
With video poker you act upon the machine thus changing the game. The
payback percentage is determined by the player, not the machine. Both
may use a Random Number Generator, but video poker’s is based on the
shuffling of a deck, and their payback percentage is almost always
higher than that of a slot machine, depending on how you play it.
