Video Poker 247 - Haywood County Sheriff Linked

It seems that Haywood County Sheriff Tom Alexander has been implicated in an illegal video poker ring. Alexander is accused of accepting thousands of dollars in reference to illegal video poker machines that were operating in South Carolina.

Alexander allegedly accepted the money in exchange for allowing the illegal video poker machines to remain in the businesses. Alexander is currently on trial for the offence as part of the Bobby Medford trial that is currently ongoing.

Jerry Pennington of Henderson Amusements, Inc. said that Alexander was paid $100 a month for their 33 video poker machines. If they had not paid it, they would have had to remove the video poker machines.

Under North Carolina state law, video poker machines are registered, and if they are not registered hey are illegal. Pennington said that on his records, Alexander had the code XXX(2) assigned to his name so on receipts for payouts Pennington would know how much he had paid to each officer.

Pennington’s testimony on May 5th is just part of the federal investigation that has been going on in reference to former Buncombe County Sheriff Bobby Medford and his alleged involvement in illegal video poker machines in the state.
