Video Poker 247
- Rented Machine Sale Goes to Trial
Daniel J. Duerst is looking at some serious jail time should he be
convicted of the crimes he is accused of. Duerst is accused of selling
the rented video poker machines that were in his Dodge County Tavern
and keeping the money for himself.
The Waupun man is being accused of theft of the video poker machines
as he did not have permission obviously to sell them. Duerst waived
his preliminary hearing in Dodge County District Court on Thursday and
will be bound over for trial.
Duerst is the owner of Scoot’s bar in Beaver Dam, and is being
officially charged with one count of theft of movable property. It
doesn’t sound like much, but if he is convicted it carries a max
penalty of 10 years in prison and a $25,000 fine.
The Sheriff’s department had been contacted last summer by Joy
Yingling who said that she had leased five video poker machines to
Scoot’s Bar through her company Modern Specialty. She said that she
had information that Duerst had sold the video poker games to a
Slinger bar owner for $2,500.
They were finally able to return the video poker machines to Duerst
and return them to Yingling. Duerst’s next court appointment is set
for May 28th.
