Video Poker 247 - Video Poker vs. Poker

Video poker is a lot like table poker in that the games are pretty much the same. The hands mean the same in both games, and they progress from high card or pair to Royal Straight Flush. The way you play impacts how much you win, and if you are good you can have just as much an impact on the video poker game as you can a table poker game.

Both games are very popular, and getting more popular all the time due to the influx of television shows that display the various tournaments that go on. However, there are some major differences between video poker and table poker as well.

One of the biggest differences for a lot of people is the fact that you cannot bluff in video poker. Sometimes that is the best way to win a hand when you are playing at the tables, but on video poker it is impossible as you are only playing the computer. Same goes with reading peoples’ behavior at the tables. As you are not playing a person, there is no advantage to that sort of skill.

Video poker also has you beating a certain payout to win, whereas at the table you are simply trying to beat the best hand to get the pot. But even though these things may seem like detriments, playing video poker is still a lot of fun. You will lose less money in the long run, depending on your playing style and addiction level, than you would playing traditional table poker.

Also, there is a solitary feeling to playing video poker that many people like. They are either intimidated by the dealer and the other players so they don’t go to the tables, or they genuinely don’t want to be around people. Either way it allows them to avoid human contact for the most part, and for the novice it is a great way to bone up on your skills.
