- Absolute Poker Facing Investigation
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission (KGC) is investigating reports that
say that Absolute Poker’s security system was breached during a
tournament last month. They say that an employee of the company may
have shared holecard information with the person who won their $1,000
tournament.
The online video poker and poker company approached Gaming Associates
to have them conduct an audit of their books, but they are looking
into working with the KGC to see what has gone on with their current
and old activities as they pertain to their “gaming and financial
systems.”
The company says that Absolute Poker contacted them to work on their
audit, but they were already looking into working with government
regulators as opposed to working with operators. They like to be able
to be independent of the operators, but they wanted to be clear that
Absolute was not having an audit forced on them, they “genuinely”
wanted to be investigated.
They say that the investigation comes from an allegation made by Marco
Johnson, who is a professional poker player. He says that he asked for
a hand history after the tournament because a player names POTRIPPER
called his all-in bluff with a busted nine-high flush draw with just
10 high. Instead of getting what he had requested the company sent him
the information on the first 94 hands instead.
When the information was finally released, it shows that POTRIPPER had
shown a history of playing that was completely unorthodox. The player
had maximized profits and minimized losses perfectly for each and
every hand. It also seemed that a former employee of Absolute Poker
had logged in and was watching the hands as well.
