Video Poker 247
- Arkansas Has Video Poker
A recent speaker at the Clinton School stated that Arkansas doesn’t
have casinos or a lottery. However, that is not really true. Arkansas
has video poker machines, video blackjack, poker tables, wagering
parlors, and coin operated machines that payout with winning
combinations – much like slot machines. The only difference is that
they don’t call them slot machines or they would have to call their
racetracks racinos, and nobody wants that!
According to Bob Lancaster, Arkansas has a large contingent of
Baptists who don’t really want to see video poker or gambling in the
state, so they turn a blind eye to that which already belongs. They
try not to acknowledge that they are in a state that allows such
gambling as that would go against everything they believe in.
Lancaster goes on to say that the only reason they have any of their
gambling at all is because they were so broke during the Depression
that something had to give. He says that they would not have video
poker or slot machines either if they didn’t end up with a “half a
loaf from a bought legislature.”
However, it does still ask the question why if it is unconstitutional
to gamble in the state of Arkansas do they have slot machines, video
poker machines, etc.? And if they are planning on bringing in a
lottery, which many think they might, how are they going to plan on
legalizing that one for it would be just more gambling?
