Video Poker 247
- Greenstein Says Poker Will Be Legalized
According to Barry Greenstein, online poker has a future in the United
States, even though there are many who say that it does not.
Greenstein has a blog on The Poker Road, located at http://www.pokerroad.com/_/index.php.
Greenstein has a recent entry on his blog that is called "Washington
D.C." and is dated October 25th. Many think that he may be on to
something.
Greenstein
says that there are significant lobbying efforts going on for online
video poker and gambling right now, and that there is great focus on
the Barney Frank and John Wexler bills, so it is likely that one of
them will get passed. He claims that since both bills are
pro-legalization, there is a good chance that within the year online
video poker and gambling will be allowed once again.
The Frank bill
says that people should be allowed to gamble if they want in the
privacy of their own homes, and the Wexler bill says that if there is
skill involved then it should be legal. He says that he will be
testifying before Congress concerning the bills, and many feel that he
is the perfect person to do so. He says that as the bill is not
working as it is, money is being lost by not regulating it and
sanctions that could seriously hurt this nation are being considered
because of it, the only likely scenario is to release it and make
online video poker and gambling legal again.
He does point
out that anywhere that has laws against gambling, it won't matter
whether or not it is legal anywhere else, as local laws will prevail.
However, other areas could see the legalization process coming to a
head very soon.
