- Understanding Video Poker Hands
Many people like to play slot machines and are curious as to how video
poker machines work as they seem very similar. However, in order to
play video poker, you must have a basic understanding of the game
poker, or at the very least what the possible hands are and how they
rank in terms of what beats what.
Remember that all poker hands are made up of five cards. Sometimes
there will be more cards than that in play, like with Texas Hold’em,
but only five of those cards will be used to determine the winning
hand. The top winner in any video poker game would be the Royal Flush.
In order to get one you have to have same suit cards and they must be
A, K, Q, J, and 10. The next best hand is a Straight Flush, which
would be any five cards of the same suit in sequential order.
Next best hand is Four of a Kind. This is pretty self explanatory.
Then there is the Full House, which is three of a kind along with a
pair – doesn’t matter suits. Then there is the Flush, which is five
cards of the same suit but they don’t need to be in any kind of order.
Then there is a Straight, which is any five cards in sequential order,
but they don’t need to be of the same suit. Next you have Three of a
Kind, which is self explanatory as well. Then Two Pair – which is two
separate pairs but they do not have to be of the same suit. A Single
Pair would be next to last with High Card being the final one. High
Card means that if no one has any sort of combination the person
holding the highest card will win the pot.
