Video Poker 247 - Packer Considering US

James Packer, the infamous Australian tycoon, has announced that he is splitting his gambling businesses from his media operations. His company, Packer’s Publishing and Broadcasting, Ltd. is going to be seeking their third significant casino investment after the split.

Packer is easily Australia’s richest man, and inherited the media empire that his father, Kerry Packer, had built. Packer has been looking for a way to move away from the company and acquiring properties in America might just be the way to accomplish that.

Packer has not announced which casino it is looking to acquire, but the Australian Financial Review said that they were looking to spend somewhere in the vicinity of $1.8 billion on the casino. They have been in talks with Harrah’s Entertainment in regards to their Chester Casino and Racetrack in Pennsylvania and experts say that this could be the company that they are looking for.

The Chester Casino offers video poker and slot machines in more than 100,000 sq ft of gambling space. The site offers more than 2,700 slot and video poker machines, in addition to a racetrack. The newspaper referenced the nearby Meadows Racetrack and Casino as well, which they said that the company might be looking to acquire in addition to that. The Meadows offers 1,700 video poker and slot machines and a track as well.

The company has already decided on the site that they would like to purchase, and they say that they are simply in the bargaining stage of the deal now. They are looking to spend upwards of $2.4 billion to gain the properties and update them as they see fit.
