Video Poker 247
- Residents Angry Over Video Poker Bust
Some residents of Montgomery County are angry that a local video poker
“ring” was shut down. They say that they understand that video poker
is illegal but they say that no one was getting hurt from the games,
they were simply having some fun.
Prosecutors have executed search warrants at more than a dozen bars in
Montgomery County, seizing the video poker machines and more than two
million dollars in cash. They say that the one of the bars was owned
by an elected official in the county, and that there wasn’t any way
that they did not know about the illegal video poker machines.
They say that they will be arresting at least one person in
conjunction with the raid, and at the very least several other
citations. Residents say that with the ability to go to Vegas, etc.
and play video poker there, they were simply trying to have some fun
and that they play for relaxation – not to win the big bucks.
They have asked the prosecutor’s office to be lenient with those
charged and to please not have them serve jail time. They say that it
is more important that they remain members of society and stay with
their families. The county sees it differently, saying that video
poker is illegal and that they knew they were breaking the law. They
say that the majority of the video poker machines were being run by
Connelly Vending, and they are especially aware of the law.
