Video Poker 247
- Video Poker Truck Stop
Jefferson Paris Sheriff Harry Lee is the proud owner of the first
video poker truck stop in his jurisdiction. The state’s Gaming Control
Board approved the license for the group that is headed by the
sheriff’s family, and they say that they should have forty video poker
machines up and running by the end of the year.
Lee says that as his department does not handle regulation there is no
conflict of interest there, and that he just couldn’t pass up this
kind of opportunity. He says that he is looking into opening more
video poker truck stops, depending on the popularity of this one. He
says that he might open them within Jefferson Parish, or he might open
them outside of it, he just doesn’t know yet.
Lee and his daughter, as well as his sister, own 75% of the video
poker truck stop, and the other 5% goes to an unnamed five. The site
is called Lee’s Avondale Truck Stop and will have the video poker
machines on the premises within the next two months.
If the site is successful, Lee and his partners could be looking at
upwards of $600,000 in video poker revenue each year. Jefferson Parish
already gets around $2 million in revenue kickbacks from the state, so
this would only increase the video poker revenue for the county.
