Video Poker 247
- Video Poker Leads to Win
Tom Hedenberg, a die hard video poker player ended up being the winner
of a slots tournament at the Resorts’ Atlantic City casino on Saturday
night. Hedenberg was invited to participate in the tournament because
of how well he had done on video poker, and luckily for him he walked
away the big winner of the night.
Hedenberg had been a prominent Gloucester County land developer for 38
years and was invited to join the Wheel of Fortune winner-take-all
slot tournament because of his level of play at video poker. But when
the tournament was over, he was the last player standing with a 4,000
point spin that landed him the championship.
Hedenberg did not initially even realize that he had won – nor did he
realize how much he had won. When his family started climbing the
ropes to tell him to congratulations he realized that he was walking
away with $1 million!
With the choice of lump sum buyout or 25 year annuity, Hedenberg opted
for the lump sum and walked away with $500,000. They had been there to
celebrate his wife’s birthday and was invited to the tournament. He
only plays video poker about once a month, but he did so well at it
that they asked him to join.
Going from the $5 video poker machines to winning the $1 million
tournament is a far jump, but Hedenberg could not be happier. Although
he had a great time, he says that he is going to stick with the video
poker because it takes a much higher level of skill.
