Video Poker 247
- Video Poker Room to Open Despite Warnings
Even though city officials have been warning them not to, The National
Poker Challenge or NPC is going ahead with their gambling games. They
say that they are legal poker, and no matter what Little Rock tries to
tell them, they are not breaking any laws and have the right to
operate in the state.
Arkansas’ officials have a differing opinion as they say that by
running the games they were in violation of state gambling laws. The
NPC had originally delayed the opening of their video poker room in
Arkansas when they first heard the news, but have since changed their
minds and will be opening in Little Rock this month.
They say that they are going to be offering tournaments as they are
the only non-gambling legal poker tournament as there is no pay to
play. They say that they are not breaking the law even though they are
offering casino type games. They say that they have a “strict
no-gambling” policy – even though players will pay a monthly fee for
“statistical tracking of their performance.”
The NPC says that they have tried to work out a relationship with
Little Rock’s city officials, and after trying that they are simply
going to go ahead with their video poker tournaments. They have other
franchises in Memphis and Portland, but Little Rock won’t budge. NPC
says they will be offering free promotional tournaments, and Little
Rock says that they have not told them that they cannot open but they
need to be aware that they will be making arrests if anyone gambles.
