Video Poker 247
- Kanawha County Fighting Video Poker
Video poker bars have done a lot of good for Kanawha County. They have
paid for many major landmarks and improvements in the county, as well
as paying for education and creating jobs. However, the leaders of the
county are looking to rid themselves of the video poker machines, and
many wonder why.
Local officials say that their county has roughly 1,658 mini casinos
with these video poker machines, and they are “aggravating.” They say
that people might get used to them, but they don’t necessarily want
them in their county. So they are going to be holding meetings to
decide how they might start getting rid of the video poker machines.
They want to eliminate the video poker clubs and are hoping that other
counties will follow suit. They say that they want legislators to make
video poker illegal when the licenses expire in 2011 – but for now no
one else is jumping on the bandwagon.
Wood County has already said that they would like to see the video
poker machines goes as well, but they say that without that revenue
they will suffer. They say that not many counties can afford to
eliminate the video poker games without having some other kind of
revenue source in place first.
