Video Poker 247
- Video Poker News and Notes
Just a few quickies for the video poker scene:
ILLINOIS: The Grand Victoria Casino in Elgin has gotten the award for
“Best Casino” for the second year in a row. Strictly Slots magazine
has named the casino the best of the best, which undoubtedly makes the
casino very happy. They also got awards for "Best Video Poker," "Best
Reel Slots," "Best Progressive Slots," "Best Slot Host/Attendants,"
"Best Dollar Slots," "Best Quarter Slots," and "Best Steakhouse."
ARKANSAS: The Arkansas Supreme Court has ruled that video poker is
legal. They ruled by a 6-1 vote that a state law that allows video
poker and other electronic games of skill was constitutional and would
be allowed. In 2005, residents in Hot Springs and West Memphis voted
to allow video poker and other such games, and the Arkansas Family
Council has been fighting the ruling. They are opposed to any kind of
gambling expansion in the state.
And finally, Trans World Corp. (TWOC) was pleased to hear that they
had gotten onto the Buyins.net Short List. TWOC is involved in the
casino scene in the Czech Republic and Croatia, and handles the
acquisition, development, and management of several casinos there.
They handle video poker and video slot machines, as well as gaming
tables. They handle small to midsize hotels that have casino
facilities, and are currently holding four casinos in Ceska Kubice,
Rozvadov, Hate, and Dolni Dvoriste in the Czech Republic; as well as
one casino operated under a management contract located in Podstrana,
Croatia.
