Video Poker 247
- Why Would Video Poker Be in Sports?
There was some confusion last week as to why video poker would be
listed among sports items in a local paper. They want to know why
video poker was listed among sports as it most definitely is not.
There was even some outrage of people saying that they wanted the new
column removed as it was simply taking space away from “real sports.”
The editor thanked their local readers for noticing the new aspect of
the paper and then went on to say that each person has a different
idea of what a sport is. He said that they have chosen to include
various games that people like to play, including video poker and
video gaming, as to those people who participate it is a sport.
He went on to say that there are always people asking him why their
dart board game was not covered, or why there isn’t enough bowling in
the paper. He says that some people don’t consider bowling a sport
either, but those people who play it certainly do. He says that they
are trying to appeal to a wide variety of sports players, and if that
means that they play football or video football, they still enjoy
their game and should be able to read about it.
He also says that by offering information on video poker and video
games that they might bring in a new group of readers that would not
have normally read the paper otherwise. They are simply trying to
change the norm a little and appeal to a broader audience. Should it
turn out that no one is reading the column they would look to remove
it, but for now they are going to see how it goes for them.
