Video Poker 247
- No Video Poker Issues
Berkeley County is reporting no issues with their video poker games
that have been released in the county. They only have a limited number
of them, but they are expected to bring in a nice windfall for the
county and for the state. Some quotes have the video poker revenue has
high has $311,000 just for the remainder of the year.
The video poker machines are being challenged by commissioners in
Kanawha and Wood Counties, but Berkeley says that they don’t have any
problems with the machines. They say that they have 84 of the video
poker games, and not a single complaint has come in about them. Not
that there would be anything they could do about it if there were
complaints as they say that they don’t have the power to get rid of
them even if there were.
The county says that it is up to the West Virginia Lottery Commission
to decide where they go and when. They are currently in bars, clubs,
restaurants and other such businesses that are owned by Butch
Pennington, a local entrepreneur. Pennington says that people like the
video poker games and that although that is not what is drawing them
into the establishment is certainly isn’t hurting business either.
He says he doesn’t know why other counties want to see the video poker
games removed, as revenue from the machines goes to services for
senior citizens and scholarships. He says that it seems to be a
political issue, not one of substance. He says that if they manage to
get rid of the machines, they are also going to be getting rid of a
valuable funding source.
