Video Poker 247
- Three Stores Subjected to Video Poker Raid
Three stores in Madison County were the focus of video poker raids
Friday evening. The stores were all playing host to video poker games,
which are illegal in the county, as well as the state of Georgia. An
undisclosed amount of cash as well as 20 video poker machines was
seized in the raid.
Authorities did not make any arrests at the time of the seizure of the
video poker machines, but they say that they will be charging those
that are the owners of the machines later this week. Captain Mike
Benner, Chief Deputy of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said that
they are going to be charged with violating the state’s commercial
gambling law.
Benner said he send in undercover officers last week to see if they
were actually running the video poker machines as they had received
reports that they were. After going into the stores and seeing the
video poker games in action, they decided to seize them in one raid
last week.
The video poker machines were paying off their customers in cash
instead of merchandise, which is what made them illegal. Each of the
stores raided had different owners, and officers said that the amount
of money was substantial – taking in more than $12,000 from just one
store’s video poker receipts from the past two days. They say that
they have information on those people playing the video poker games as
well.
