Video Poker 247 - Video Poker Theft

The latest victim in a string of thefts of video poker machines comes from the White Rock area of North Texas. The perpetrators come into convenience stores pretending to be police men and seize the video poker machines while their owners watch. In this latest theft, the thieves came in with t-shirts with police logos on them, handcuffs, and a radio. They spoke in an authoritative tone, which has led those that have been taken by the pair to comply with their wishes.

They come into the stores and tell the clerks that the video poker machines are illegal because they pay out real money and then pretend to confiscate the machines. In reality, these men are not police officers, nor are they “confiscating” the video poker machines, they are stealing them. The video poker machines are worth several thousand dollars, but the real police say that it is kind of a strange thing to steal as it would be tough to unload them.

John LeBlanc was working the Mobile gas near Garland Road and Lockwood Boulevard when the two men showed up. They told him the video poker games were illegal and that they were going to have to take them. They asked to use the phone and then one of them pulled the plug from the wall. The other began taking the video poker machines out of the store, and when LeBlanc tried to stop them one of them tried to handcuff him. That is when he called the police.

The police arrived shortly after the two men vacated the premises, and LeBlanc said he felt like a fool for believing them. Dallas police say that he is not alone as seven other stores have fallen for the same thing. One of the men has been arrested, but police have not released his name. Police say that they probably don’t know the extent of it yet, there could be other stores that they have hit that have not reported it yet.
